Petition Launched To Help Save Concrete

A petition has been launched to support one of Paris’ key club venues, Concrete, after it emerged that the owners of the barge on which it is situated have served an eviction notice.

The company that runs the barge presented Concrete with a 15-day eviction notice on February 11 having refused to renew its lease of the space at the start of the year. The club is still currently occupying the barge and has club events planned at the space going into the summer.

Concrete does have high-profile support within Paris, including the city’s deputy mayor, Frédéric Hocquard, who said that the venue “really lights up Parisian nightlife”.

He continued: “In just a few years, this place has become one of the hearts of techno music and the revival of Paris nightlife. This heart must not stop beating.”

Concrete almost purchase the barge on which it is based late last year, but the deal fell through. It has been open at its current site since 2012 and has gone on to become one of Paris’ most-respected clubs since, regularly attracting the biggest names in electronic music.
